In a fiercely contested match between North Geelong Warriors and Bentleigh Greens, the Warriors were unable to repeat their earlier victory over their opponents. The clash, which took place at Elcho Park last Saturday, saw Bentleigh Greens emerge victorious with a 2-1 score line. As a result, North Geelong Warriors find themselves at the bottom of the ladder once again in the Victorian NPL standings.

The match pitted two struggling teams against each other, as both North Geelong Warriors and Bentleigh Greens occupied the lower reaches of the Victorian NPL table. The Warriors, buoyed by their earlier success against Bentleigh in round one, entered the game hoping for a repeat performance to secure a crucial victory.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, Bentleigh Greens started the match on a strong note, grabbing the lead in the 31st minute. Their early goal put North Geelong under pressure, and the Warriors struggled to regain control of the game. Bentleigh doubled their advantage in the 64th minute, leaving the Warriors with an uphill battle.

Despite the odds stacked against them, the Warriors fought back, with Charlie Fleming finding the back of the net just three minutes after Bentleigh’s second goal. Fleming’s goal reignited hopes of a comeback, but time was not on the Warriors’ side.

The game took a dramatic turn in the final stages when Bentleigh Greens were reduced to ten men following a red card. This presented North Geelong with a golden opportunity to salvage a point or even secure a late victory. However, the Warriors failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage, and Bentleigh managed to hold on to their lead until the final whistle. With this result, the Greens clinched all three points, leaving the Warriors disappointed and consigned to the bottom of the ladder once more.

North Geelong Warriors will now turn their attention to their upcoming fixture against the Port Melbourne Sharks. The Sharks, currently occupying the fifth position, will pose another challenging test for the struggling Warriors. The match is scheduled for this Saturday, May 27th at JL Murphy Reserve, with kick-off set for 17:30.
