Adelaide came alive with an exciting clash of passion and skill as the Croatian-Australian Soccer Tournament launched into action! In its 49th year, the “tourney” united football talent from across Australia for four days of fierce competition, cultural pride, and unforgettable moments for all.

The tournament began on Thursday with the opening ceremony and folklore performances before the night matches kicked off. Home team Adelaide Croatia Raiders defeated Hurstville Zagreb 1-0. Following the matches, Grupa Akord played in overflowing clubrooms, where supporters danced to many kolos before heading home.

On Friday, Adelaide Raiders hosted a beautiful lunch in their picturesque olive grove, a calm amidst the excitement of the tournament. While the temperatures were high, the heat didn’t dampen the spirits of the players and fans as the full day of football unfolded across all divisions. In the evening, many families gathered in the clubrooms for a delicious dinner. The lively music and conversation were the perfect way to end the day of competition before returning for one of the biggest nights of the tournament.
Last-minute surprise guests, The Zapresic Boys from Croatia appeared in the red and white checkered tent to perform their patriotic football chants, engaging the community in their sense of pride. Following them was DJ Sime from Melbourne and Prva Liga from Sydney who sang through the early hours of the morning.

With high stakes due to Saturday’s Quarter and Semi-Finals, the excitement was apparent with enthusiastic fans cheering on their teams in all divisions. Many gathered as the AFL Final lit up the big screen, before the night wrapped up with an unforgettable Gala Night celebration at the Adelaide Oval.
Tensions were high in the Division 1 Grand Final where Sydney United claimed their tenth trophy with a 2-1 victory over Gold Coast Knights, claiming their legacy at the top!

HNK Kralj Tomislav B dominated Division 2 with a 3-0 victory over HNK Edensor Park. In a historic moment for St Albans Dinamo Women, the team claimed their first-ever trophy with a 4-0 win over Canberra Croatia. In the Masters division, Hurstville Zagreb faced a tough challenge from the Gospic Bears, ultimately falling 3-1. Meanwhile, in the Veterans division, Melbourne Knights triumphed over Strathmore Split, securing a 2-0 win.
Aside from football, Sunday festivities also included a Spit Lunch, Lottery Prize, and Draw and Awards ceremonies. Following the grand final and closing ceremony, the Zapresic Boys appeared for the final performance on the truck before kicking off the 18+ farewell party in the Stara Kuća featuring Major Minor.

Overall, it was an action-packed four days filled with strong performances and memorable moments across all divisions. Fans were treated to an exciting display of football and music in Adelaide.
