The story of Diva will be revealed at Cannes!
As we eagerly anticipate destination Cannes 2025, we are proud to announce that Majestic Film will be supporting and collaborating with Croatian filmmaker Branko Perić from Tomislavgrad in his endeavours to create historic Croatian films.
There are countless beautiful and poignant stories from Croatia that deserve to be told and having advocated for these initiatives for many years, I have also produced similar films and will continue to do so.
When I learned about Branko Perić’s inspiring journey of grit, determination and perseverance to complete a feature film about the tragic story of Diva Grabovčeva, all without government or major private funding, I felt compelled to extend my support. Last year, I had the pleasure of inviting Perić to the Cannes Film Festival, where I sponsored the promotion of his project, “Diva,” at our Majestic Film stand.
Since then, our collaborations have expanded and the movie “Diva” is now in the final stages of completion. I am excited to share the news the we will be hosting a special test screening at the official Cannes Film Festival’s Marché Du Film, inside the prestigious Palais on May 17, 2025, at 17:45. Although Cannes is for industry professionals, we are extended the possibility to host some guests.
We will also be on hand to discuss the film’s release with sales agents and distributors, and we plan to offer screening opportunities to festivals around the world. Majestic Film welcome’s film industry professionals to visit our Majestic Film stand inside of the prestigious Palais des festival (Palais-1 / 25). Allow us to host you for a drink of bubbly at the picturesque Plage des Palmes or Bistrot du Lérins overseeing the picturesque Cannes harbour to learn more about our current and future slates.
“Diva” is a Croatian-language film shot in the captivating locations of Hercegovina (Bosnia and Hercegovina), on the historic lands where King Tomislav of Croatia was crowned 1100 years ago.
The film tells the poignant tale of Diva, a beautiful Croatian virgin assigned to marry into the ruling Ottomans. Her story is one of courage, conviction, and inner strength in the face of hostile adversity. Diva remains steadfast and unwilling to compromise her Christian faith, a choice that ultimately leads to tragedy.
“Diva” will premiere in Mostar later in the year and will subsequently be screened at festivals and cultural events around the world until it’s eventual worldwide release.
