Labor pledges $3.5m for Dinamo upgrade in major election promise

A re-elected Labor Government would provide $3.5 million towards a long overdue upgrade and redevelopment of the St Albans Dinamo Football Club’s changeroom facilities at Churchill Reserve in Melbourne’s West.

This $3.5 million project signifies a major investment in the Croatian community.

The ALP candidate for the western Melbourne seat of Fraser and the current sitting MP, Daniel Mulino, made the multi-million dollar pledge on Saturday. This announcement was made whilst attending the major I&D Gala Day event at Dinamo.

“I attended the I&D tournament today with members of St Albans Dinamo FC and other clubs to announce the news,” announced Mulino on a social media post over the weekend. https://www.facebook.com/daniel.mulino.1

Mulino, who is the incumbent MP for Fraser, stated that the $3.5 million funding would assist in redeveloping outdated facilities. This is to accommodate the unprecedented growth at the Croatian community backed soccer club.

“Today’s tournament was attended by around 500 junior players from Croatian clubs across Melbourne. Dinamo’s hosting of this tournament reflects the club’s commitment to junior football,” stated Mulino.

Funding to upgrade outdated facilities

“The funding that I announced today will assist in redeveloping outdated facilities. This will accommodate the growing club, particularly junior teams,” he continued.

“The new facilities will include women’s change rooms, enhanced social rooms and a synthetic junior pitch for additional training capacity.”

St Albans Dinamo president Ilija Dragičević has welcomed the $3.5 million funding announcement. He said it will go a long way in redeveloping the club’s outdated changeroom facilities which will aid the further growth of participation numbers at Churchill Reserve.

Dragičević will have more to say about this announcement when he appears on this week’s episode of the club’s official podcast DinamoTV. This will air tomorrow night from 8pm.
