Vjesnik TV launches with Sydney United 58 feature

Vjesnik TV will be a key feature of the famous masthead’s new digital era.

We kick off The Vjesnik’s original content offerings with a feature on one of Australia’s most famous football clubs, Sydney United 58 FC.

Vjesnik TV will be a regular video series, bringing you stories relevant to the Croatian community across Australia.

UNITED RETURNS TO THE NATIONAL STAGE ON VJESNIK TV

It is almost 21 years after they played their last NSL game, Sydney United are preparing to return to the national stage.

As one of the eight clubs announced as part of Football Australia’s inaugural Championship, kicking off in October, United is currently the only Croatian-backed club officially part of the national second tier competition.

Vjesnik TV visited Edensor Park to profile the club that has produced some of the best players and most significant figures in Australian football, including Socceroos coach Tony Popović and ex-Socceroos captain Mile Jedinak.

United captain and club great Adrian Vlastelica recalls watching NSL games as a kid, and was honoured to lead his club back onto the national stage.

“It was a massive part of me growing up as a kid and following the club,” said Vlastelica, who had a brief A-League stint with Sydney FC in 2022-23.

Ex-Canberra Croatia FC junior and NSL star Ante Jurić joined United at the start of this season in first coaching stint at United, almost 20 years after finishing his coveted playing career at the club.

Having built a reputation as one of the best women’s coaches in Australia, leading a host of Matildas stars including 2023 World Cup hero Courtnee Vine, Jurić is determined to make an impact at his former club.

“We want to be there (on the national stage), we believe we belong there,” said Jurić, who is balancing 2025 NPL priorities with Championship planning.

The full Sydney United feature will be released at 4pm tomorrow (Thursday April 17) on Vjesnik TV’s YouTube Channel.
