Croatia may not have claimed their Eurovision gold just yet, but their journey has been nothing short of iconic.

Since debuting as an independent nation in 1993, Croatia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 29 times.

They have captured the hearts of Eurovision fans with their passionate entries.

Lyrics in both English and Croatian seem to leave a lasting impression on the stage of European music.

With hopes of a first win, 2025 will be their 30th entry year. This will begin on the 13th of May with Marko Bošnjak singing his original song in English, “Poison Cake.”

Croatia’s best result in Eurovision, was their second-place finish in 2024, when Baby Lasagna placed with their iconic hit “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”.

They also placed third in 1993, with Put’s “Don’t Ever Cry” with lyrics in both Croatian and English.

Over the years, they have had some huge names participate in the competition, including; Tony Cetinski, Magazin, Vesna Pisarović, Goran Karan, Severina, Nina Badrić and Franka.

Their best streak was their six top ten results in seven years between 1995-2001, with

  • “Nostalgija” performed by Magazin and Lidija finishing sixth (1995),
  • “Sveta Ljubav” by Maja Blagdan finishing fourth (1996),
  • “Neka mi ne Svane” by Danijela Martinović finishing fifth (1998),
  • “Marija Magdalena” by Doris Dragović finishing fourth (1999),
  • “Kad Zaspu Anđeli” by Goran Karan finishing ninth (2000), and
  • “Strings of My Heart” by Vanna finishing tenth (2001).

A period of 23 years without a top ten result followed, which was interrupted by Baby Lasagna in 2024.

From ballads to exciting stage shows, Croatia’s Eurovision story is a rollercoaster of passion and performance.

While a first-place finish has remained just out of reach, each performance has added a unique chapter to their legacy. The best may still be to come in this year’s competition.
