Mediterranean Vibes: Croatia’s Hottest Summer Spots and Scenes

Whether you’re an Aussie Cro heading “home” this summer, or just craving an Adriatic getaway, Croatia is the place to be for summer in 2025.

With new hotspots, festivals, and travel hacks, you can make this Croatian Summer the best one yet.

From hidden coastal gems to beach parties, there is something for everyone regardless of the vibe of your trip.

It’s time to go through an insider guide of the hottest travel trends this summer.

Hidden Gems

Žnjan Beach, Split:

Located in the Eastern part of Split, connecting to Trstenik beach, Žnjan beach is a popular
pebbly beach known for its length and variety of activities.

With umbrella/chair rentals, a water park, and even kitesurfing, this beach is perfect whether you’re going with family or friends.

They even offer yoga and massage services—perfect if you’re craving some serious relaxation instead of breaking a sweat.

After undergoing a £37 million renovation, Split’s largest beach reopens on June 21.

Expect landscaped beaches, over 800 trees, playgrounds, splash pads, and an amphitheatre.

All facilities are free and accessible to both locals and tourists.

Primošten, Šibenik-Knin:

Primošten is more of a hidden gem compared to Žnjan Beach, and it is well worth the visit.

The vibrant, naturally beautiful, and culturally rich town on the Dalmatian coast has options for everyone, whether you’re seeking relaxation or adventure.

From Mala Raduča Beach, to the various cycling trails, to water sports such as kayaking, you could never possibly be bored here.

It is also a very culturally and historically rich town, with sites to visit such as St George’s Church which comes with a beautiful panoramic view of the Adriatic Sea, the Our Lady of Loreto Statue which sits 17m high, and even simply strolling through the Stari Grad (old town) provides insight to the history and culture in Primošten.

Konavle Region:

A short drive South of Dubrovnik takes you to the rural paradise that is the Konavle region. Known as ‘the land of vineyards and olive groves’, Konavle is rich in traditional Croatian culture and untouched nature.

There is wine and olive oil tasting that can be experienced at local farms including authentic Croatian wines such as Plavac Mali.

There are various options to experience traditional Croatian folklore, as the village Čilipi, hosts traditional klapa singing and dance performances that celebrate Croatian heritage.

Konavle also offers quiet, less-congested places for hiking, swimming and snorkelling.

Travel hacks

  • Use local ferries, such as Jadrolinija as much as possible. They are convenient, reasonably priced, and include scenic travel views.
  • Public Transport passes in cities like Split and Zagreb will be well worth it for the days where you are moving around a lot. Day passes can be as low as €4 – 5 for 24 hour use.
  • Free Shuttle Buses to busy places such as the airport, Split Mall etc. Be sure to research where you are going specifically as there are plenty of free shuttle buses around, you just have to line up your travel times with the bus timetables!
  • For local dining, be sure to try and eat at Konobas (local taverns) as much as possible away from touristy areas, you are practically guaranteed better prices and quality.
