The Melbourne Knights Soccer Club’s Juniors section this week announced it had aligned itself with an ex-Australian Croatian footballer’s successful private academy.
“The Melbourne Knights Juniors are proud to be aligned with one of Victoria’s most respected and reputable junior football programs – Lustica Football,” the Knights announced on their social media platforms last Sunday evening.
“When two organisations share the same passion for sport, community, and developing athletes, amazing things happen,” continued the Knights’ press statement.
Canberra born Steven Luštica (pictured in main photo) has enjoyed a long and highly successful professional football career.

Professional career in Croatia and Australia
He played for Hajduk Split in the Croatian HNL league from 2011 to 2013 and also turned out for a number of clubs in Australia’s A League including Gold Coast United, Western Sydney Wanderers, Adelaide United, Brisbane Roar and most recently Western United.
Now based in Melbourne post playing career, his Lustica Academy has grown incredibly in the past two years.
“It’s a proud moment for Lustica Football to align with a club like the Melbourne Knights, which has such a rich footballing history,” Luštica told the Hrvatski vjesnik this week.
“Our goal has always been to provide a high-performance environment for young players and this partnership allows us to connect that pathway with a club that’s been a cornerstone of football in this country,” he continued.
New beginnings and long-term success
“We’re excited about what’s to come and the opportunities this can create for junior development,” concluded former professional footballer Steven Luštica.
Although details weren’t revealed as to exactly what the partnership involves in their press release, the Knights did state that dates and further information would be announced shortly.
