Croatia Crowned Europe’s Top Travel Destination for 2025

Are you looking for your next European getaway? Look no further, Croatia was Crowned Europe’s Top Travel Destination for 2025, making it the perfect place to visit. This announcement highlights Croatia’s allure.

After a public vote from over one million travellers in 139 countries, Croatia won the title from European Best Destinations (EBD) over Spain (2nd), Austria (3rd), Italy (4th) and Greece (5th). The competition was fierce, but Croatia as a destination stood out.

Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić and the Minister of Tourism, Tonči Glavina attended the official award ceremony, celebrating Croatia Crowned Europe’s Top Travel Destination for 2025.

Staničić said,

“Generated interest for our country at International Tourism Exchange Berlin (ITB), alongside the celebrated tribute we received from the EBD, is an indicator of Croatia’s premium status, as a high – quality tourism destination recognised world-wide. This is especially binding for us, given that this is an award based on the votes of travellers from all over the world, including those from the platforms acknowledged by the media partners such as Forbes and the Condé Nast.”

Additionally Glavina added,

This is another confirmation of the quality of our tourism offer, continued raising of our standards, and the best compliment to all our tourism staff.”

Maximilien Lejeune presented the award on March the 4th 2025, at ITB one of the world’s largest annual travel trade shows.

Held in Berlin, the event gave the Croatians the opportunity to thank their biggest supporters, Germany.

Germans account for over 20% of Croatia’s total overnight stays through their tourism.

This award made Croatia Crowned Europe’s Top Travel Destination for 2025 proud to share their gratitude.

Glavina states,

Germany is the most important source market for us, and that is why at this one of the world’s most important tourism fairs in Berlin we are sending the message that Croatia is a destination that offers the Germans value for money, that offers quality and a wealth of content 365 days a year.”
