Melbourne Thompson fans snap up ‘golden ticket’ to Zagreb concert

IT took a little over six hours of patiently waiting for the right moment to strike during the first round of ticket sales. But when that moment finally came, it was well worth it!

For Melbourne’s Sandra Pandžić – and half a million other Marko Perković Thompson fans worldwide – getting her hands on the ‘golden ticket’ to what is now known as the world’s highest selling music concert in history, is a dream come true.

“We tried every which way to get tickets to the Thompson concert. I even had a cousin in Zagreb who works in the music industry, who wasn’t able to get to the front of the queue,” Pandžić told the Croatian Herald this week.

“We were on the internet for about six hours in total before we finally managed to get through,” she continued.

“Then my cousin suggested while Croatia sleeps we try to jump on, and that’s when we managed to score ourselves six tickets!”

According to the Melbourne based long time Thompson fan whose mother hails from Dubrovnik and father from the island of Lastovo, she will be arriving in Zagreb on the day of the highly anticipated event with her son Jake.

Thompson concert a ‘once in a lifetime’ event

Another family from Melbourne will be accompanying them to what is expected to be a ‘once in a lifetime’ event.

“We got six tickets for two families and we are all travelling from Melbourne. We managed to get the tickets in the fan pit, in the area right up close to the stage!” she exclaimed.

“I have been a Thompson fan for more than 20 years now and went to the Festival Hall concert in Melbourne back in 2007, but to see it and experience it in Croatia is truly going to be something indescribable,” Pandžić continued excitedly.

Pointing out that ‘Lijepa li si’ would definitely count as one of her favourite Thompson songs, Pandžić said to experience the event in Zagreb with her son Jake will leave lifelong memories.

“We are all so excited and looking forward to an incredible life experience. It will be such a huge crowd, the atmosphere will be incredible,” she said.

“To experience this together with my son Jake, who is a massive Thompson fan himself, will make it even more special,” added Pandžić.

“After all, it was Jake’s huge online efforts to secure us the tickets that secured the tickets. We are both huge fans and we can’t wait for July!”

The site of the world record Thompson concert will be the Zagreb Hipodrome along the banks of the Sava River
