Dinamo and Split to raise funds for sick boy’s USA treatment

Melbourne’s Croatian community will come together for a worthy cause on Holy Thursday when football and food combine to help a young member of the Croatian community seek lifesaving medical treatment in the United States. The event aims to raise necessary funds for the treatment.

St Albans Dinamo is organising a special Burger Night at its Churchill Reserve clubrooms this Thursday night, with proceeds from the event to be donated to the Perinac Family to help cover medical funds .

“One year old Niko has been diagnosed with a rare brain cancer and will travel to the United States for treatment,” the club said in a social media post earlier this week.

“Your donation will help Niko and his family during this difficult time,” the statement continued. Your contributions are essential to raising the necessary funds.

PMMTI – extremely rare tumor in infancy

Niko Perinac, 1, is battling Primitive myxoid mesenchymal tumor of infancy (PMMTI), which is an extremely rare soft tissue tumor. PMMTI has only been reported a handful of times and occurs in very early infancy.

The Burger Night will commence at 6pm inside the Dinamo clubrooms, with burgers and chips priced at just $20. All the proceeds will go towards Niko’s medical funds.

No reservations are required, just turn up to the club, say event organisers.

Later that evening, kicking off at 7:45pm, northern suburbs based Croatian backed club FC Strathmore Split will take on State League 1 outfit Ballarat City in its Round 4 Australia Cup clash at Churchill Reserve.

“What better way to kick off the Easter long weekend than with burgers, chips and football! Thank you to FC Strathmore Split for supporting this worthy cause,” was the message from Dinamo’s event organisers.
