Spring in Croatia offers longer days, mild weather, and blooming landscapes, making it the perfect time to explore this stunning destination. From its famous Adriatic coast to hidden inland gems, Croatia’s 2025 tourism season is already booming. Discover why more travellers are choosing Croatian holidays and what new campaigns are promoting across this breathtaking country.
Spring in Croatia
Spring has arrived in Croatia. The days are longer, and the weather is already a pleasant 20 degrees Celsius. Although there has been quite a bit of rain in recent days, occasionally with thunderstorms, it is clear that we are entering a warmer time of the year.
A Strong Easter Holiday for Tourism
During the recent Easter holidays, which were later than usual this year, tourists flocked in large numbers not only to the Croatian coast but also to many inland locations. According to statistical data, there were 34 percent more tourists than last year, and overnight stays increased by an impressive 56 percent.
The majority of visitors were in Istria, followed by Kvarner, and then the Split, Dubrovnik, and Zadar regions, in that order. Once again, the most numerous guests were Germans – just like last year – followed by Croatians, which is not an insignificant detail. Next came Austrians, Italians, Slovenians, Slovaks, and guests from the United Kingdom, who primarily head to the Dubrovnik area.
Inland Destinations Also Thriving
In addition to the coast, many attractive inland resorts were also quite full. These include hundreds of smaller towns, beautifully maintained picnic areas, and family farms that radiate warmth and take care of their guests in a homely manner – something visitors value and which encourages them to return.
Provided that international circumstances remain as they currently are, another good tourist season is expected. Those responsible, including the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ), wish to contribute to this success. They have launched a campaign for this year titled ‘Get to Know Me’.
A Campaign to Showcase All of Croatia
The essence of this campaign is to encourage travel lovers to once again choose one of Croatia’s many destinations this year. It will be broadcast on television, in newspapers, on websites, and across social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
In addition to the stunning, clean sea, pleasant climate, and historical coastal towns, this year’s campaign will also place emphasis on showcasing other parts of the country. As the HTZ highlights, these areas also meet the highest standards of quality and service.
Promoting Lesser-Known Regions
Special visuals and video materials will be created for perhaps lesser-known islands, the Šibenik hinterland, Gorski Kotar, Zagorje, Slavonia, and other areas. The goal is to increase tourist awareness of Croatia’s diverse offerings.
“The main goal of the campaign is to bring closer the incredible beauty of Croatia’s magical landscapes, the local people who make each place unique, and the hidden gems of every destination,” they say.
A Personal and Authentic Tourist Experience
The idea, they explain, is to convey a message to guests who wish to experience the unique lifestyle of the local population, their customs and traditions, as well as unique delicacies, authentic experiences, and emotions – because tourism is precisely that: an experience.
This is certainly a commendable initiative and marks something of a shift compared to previous campaigns. After all, the beauty of Dubrovnik hardly needs further promotion, nor does the uniqueness of the Sea Organ in Zadar, which many are eager to visit, or Plitvice Lakes, for which visitors must reserve tickets days in advance during summer.
Highlighting Hidden Gems Across the Country
However, guests should also be guided through the campaign to discover the beauty of places like Veliki Tabor Castle in Zagorje, which has been fully restored, the Kamačnik Canyon with its small waterfalls near Karlovac, or the Baranja House – not just a culinary hub but also a museum of old artefacts that affirm the lifestyle and people of the region. Croatia always knows how to surprise.
