Hrvatsko Društvo Sydney, one of the oldest clubs in Australia, founded in 1951 has started its new chapter in Concord located at 1 Nullawarra Avenue, Concord (Sydney, NSW), and is proudly celebrating its first year of successful operation this June. In just 12 months, the Club has become a vital cultural hub for not only Sydney’s Croatian community but a welcoming space for people of all backgrounds who appreciate Croatian traditions, food, music and hospitality.

As a vibrant centre of Croatian life in New South Wales, the Club also regularly welcomes visitors from Croatian communities across Australia – from Melbourne to Brisbane, Perth to Adelaide – including worldwide guests, who come to connect, celebrate and share in the rich cultural identity that unites Croatians from all corners of the country.

Official Birthday Weekend: 7–9 June
The first birthday will be marked with a long weekend of celebration, offering a full programme for all generations. Highlights include:
- Saturday (7 June): Jumping castle for children, live performance by Dan the Man Duo, Hurstville Zagreb FC Festa, live music, Croatian food and drinks and market stalls.
- Sunday (8 June): Children’s jumping castle, band Akcija performing live, family-friendly fun and a special folkloric performance
- Monday (9 June): Recovery tunes with DJ Cello – perfect for winding down after a big weekend

Club President Mijo Rimac proudly reflects on the journey so far:
“The Club was built to proudly showcase the very best of Croatian culture — not only to our community but to the local community and everyone Since opening, we’ve reached over 13,000 members with around 2,500 people visiting each week. The 20–30 age group love our outdoor courtyard and alfresco area vibe especially when live music. Our pizzas are one of the best in Sydney and the Croatian mixed grill are fan favourites. The venue is especially appealing to young families with children who enjoy the safe and friendly atmosphere. We recently hosted our first wedding. Our folkloric group Sydney CFE has grown significantly and we aim to launch a Croatian language school in 2027. We are applying for extended trading hours to expand our outdoor live music programme for this spring and summer. It is beautiful to see four generations enjoying themselves together under one roof. I would like to thank the Uprava and Design Team involved in making this dream come to reality. Bog i Hrvati”
