2025 travel boom along Dalmatian coast

Croatia’s 2025 tourist season is thriving, with coastal destinations reporting strong visitor numbers and international media praising its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and unique landscapes. From celebrity sightings in Dubrovnik and Hvar to stunning beaches on Rab and Pag, Croatia continues to attract travellers seeking unforgettable summer holidays along the Adriatic coast.

Tourist season in Croatia going well

The tourist season in Croatia is progressing well. The coastline is bustling, with some destinations recording new records, others maintaining last year’s levels, and a few hoping to make up for July’s shortfall in August.

Modest growth still expected

Overall, it is expected to be another successful tourist season. In terms of numbers—and therefore income—it should be slightly better than last year. However, the increases are no longer in double digits, but rather just a few percentage points.

Caution around pricing appears to have paid off

It seems that persistent warnings from government officials have borne fruit, as restauranteurs and owners of apartments and hotels have been advised to be prudent when it comes to raising prices, since “others also have the sea and beaches.”

Although prices—just like in some neighbouring countries—have generally gone up, the impression is that some, under the pressure of market forces, have refrained from further increases and have offered guests reasonable options, encouraging them to return to our beautiful country.

Celebrity sightings and the return of the middle class

As expected, this year again saw a flood of wealthy individuals and celebrities along the Croatian Adriatic, especially in Dubrovnik and on the island of Hvar. Among the visitors were Jeff Bezos, Nicole Kidman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bill Clinton, and many more.

Thanks to such guests, Croatia continues to feature in numerous media outlets, which report on their impressions—even though some of these high-profile visitors prefer to avoid publicity. Nevertheless, the majority of visitors remain from the middle class—those who manage to save a bit to afford a summer holiday with their families on the Adriatic.

Slovak media praising Croatia’s beauty

It is precisely this group that benefits most from the numerous media descriptions highlighting the beauty of Croatia and the must-see destinations. On this occasion, we highlight excerpts from reports published in the most-read Slovak media, collected by the Croatian National Tourist Board.

These reports highlight natural beauty, cultural wealth, unique landscapes, and hidden gems that Croatia has to offer. One outlet focused on the island of Rab, in the Kvarner region, presenting it as a “combination of sandy beaches, greenery, and cultural attractions.”

Spotlight on Rab and its sandy shores

They particularly emphasise the town of Rab with its historic old town, as well as the village of Lopar, known for its sandy beaches. They strongly recommend a visit to Paradise Beach (Rajska plaža), which they describe as the queen of beaches thanks to its 1.5-kilometre length.

Unique Croatian attractions highlighted

Another media outlet lists five unique features “that cannot be found anywhere else.” They start with the Cathedral of St James in Šibenik, notable for being constructed entirely from stone. They also mention the Walls of Ston, the second-longest in the world, and of course, the stunning Skradinski buk waterfall in Krka National Park.

Further highlights include the oldest botanical garden in the wider region, the Trsteno Arboretum near Dubrovnik, and the Arena in Pula, described as “one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world.”

Pag’s otherworldly landscape captivates visitors

A third media source focused on the island of Pag and the beaches near Metajna. They write that it is a must-see because “it looks like Mars there.” They were fascinated by the turquoise sea and particularly the harsh, almost extraterrestrial landscape, where, due to the Velebit bora wind, no trees grow—only white rocky terrain.

A sentimental farewell from a famous family

To end on a high note, the best messages came from an Australian woman—the niece of Nicole Kidman—who posted photos with her mother and famous aunt by the sea at dusk. One caption read: “We never want to leave!”, while the other stated: “It’s hard to beat this.”
